Mariner Hero of the St. James Sea Cook Nixon Saves Islander
Report recounts H. K. Nixon of Elizabeth New Jersey famed as a sea cook who saved Lindsay on Pacific island after the St. James wrecked near Pilcatrn on December 17, 1918. Nixon devised a neck realignment using lime and coconut oil and then slid Lindsay into place with a daring head lift.
