Watch Those Hoppers Urged to Watch for Grasshopper Hatchings

Nebraska extension entomologist O S Bare warns county farmers to watch for two striped migratory and yellow differential hoppers hatching late April through early June. Hatches occur along sod rows fence lines ditch banks and field margins. Polk County farmers should inform County Agricultural Agent Peterson or precinct committee to coordinate uniform poisoning once hatching begins.

Young Men Build a $50 Homemade Tractor From Odds and Ends

The Halstead brothers assemble a working tractor using parts from a Clover leaf spreader, Whippet, Fordson, Sampson, Chevrolet, Dodge, GMC, Model A, and Model T. It reportedly has 8 speeds in reverse and 33 forward, with total cost near 50 dollars. They farm 400 acres with their father and expect dividends as crops rise.
