National Air Mail Week Planned with Parade
Plans are set for National Air Mail Week with a May 19 observance. The mail plane arrives at 1 30 P M landing near the Wm Kroger farm, one mile west and a half mile north of town. A Polk Band parade starts Main Street at 1 PM and will perform at the field. Residents urged to mail at least one air mail letter that day. Special envelopes available at the post office.

Harold Strand Dies After Lingering Illness
Harold Nathaniel Strand born July 7 1903 in Sanonville Nebraska died May 8 1938 at his Polk home after months of illness. He joined the Methodist church in 1927 and was baptized earlier in 1903. He married Garnet Alvern Peterson on June 3 1936. He is survived by his wife and parents Oscar and Suzanna Strand and four brothers Paul Warren Hilding Merle. two brothers Melvin and Kenneth preceded him in death. Funeral services were May 11 at the Strand home and Methodist church with Rev E B Pengelly. burial Amberville cemetery.
