The Batavia Garden Club held Tour Day at the Cincinnati Nature Center in Perintown on May 20 with lunch in the conference room and a business meeting. Mr. McCamey described the center and urged conservation education, while UC offered a two week course at the site. A brief tour and book browsing followed. Amelia-Coney Island Day is set for June 12 with advance tickets and a chartered bus from Amelia Elementary School.

The Clough Valley Chapter DAR joined Colerain Historical Society and others on May 26 for memorial services at Fort Dunlap Station Cemetery. Participants included Mrs. Harold B. Barrere, Mrs. Wendell D. Dunn, and Mrs. E. William Monter. The report also notes graduation exercises for 156 seniors and community condolences, birthdays, and anniversaries.

Dumfords Celebrate Golden Wedding With Open House
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dumford invite relatives and neighbors to an open house at their Bethel New Hope Road home to mark their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday June 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. The couple wed June 1 1918 in Batavia. They have a late son Oscar L. Dumford and a grandson Lee. They are longtime community leaders in Clermont County and active in Grange groups and colonial societies.

West Clermont Summer School Opens June 12
Everett E. Park announces West Clermont Summer School starting June 12 at Amelia High School. The five week program runs through July 25 with registration June 6 7 and 10 from 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 3 pm. About 400 students expected with remedial reading speech therapy and advanced credit courses offered.

Batavia High School students earned awards in the Ohio Scholarship Testing Program Division I. Deborah Ungelhuem placed 9th in the District in Advanced Algebra, Mike Trasser was 12th in Geometry in the District, Edward Weas 2nd in the District and 15th in the State in Geometry. Cindy Ziegenhardt received honorable mention in the State for American History after finishing 5th in the District.
