Indian Hill teen dies in Vietnam combat patrol
Pfc. Richard Weaver 19 of Camp Dennison was killed May 20 near Than Thien while on a combat patrol with A Company Fifth Marine Regiment First Battalion. A 1967 Indian Hill High School graduate he played football wrestling track and was in the school band. Burial plans include St Andrew's Catholic Church Milford and Camp Dennison cemetery. Survived by parents Everett and (not named) Weaver and a half sister Marilyn Pusateri of Tampa Florida.

Newtonsville reports a knothole meeting at Wayne Township Firehouse on June 13 at 8 p.m. Newtonsville Tigers won 3-0 at Day Heights on May 31 with Steve Neaves striking out 14. Jeff Fisher led the offense with a single and a double.

New Dates Set for Sixth Little Miami Canoe Races
June 22 and 23 mark the rescheduled Little Miami River Canoe Races and Frontier Days sponsored by Flerlage Marine and the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce. Races run from South Lebanon to Milford with two Saturday 15 mile events and a Sunday main event, open to amateurs and youths with various divisions and trophy prizes.

Goshen Names Duane Tennant as New Elementary Principal
The Goshen Board of Education has hired 30 year old Duane Tennant as principal of the new Goshen elementary school opening in September. He comes from Bedford City Schools and begins a two year contract August 1. Tennant holds a BA from David Lipscomb College and an MA from Peabody with additional post graduate work at Peabody and Kent State. He is married with two school age children and has six years experience as an elementary principal in Bedford. He belongs to the Bedford Kiwanis Club and the Church of Christ.

Mrs Mary Bissantz Named Mrs Ohio for 1969
Mrs Mary Bissantz of 3770 State Route 132 Amelia Batavia area has been named Mrs Ohio the top homemaker for 1969. A Chicago pageant official notified her Monday. She and husband Harold will fly to Minnesota to compete for Mrs America with 15 000 in prizes. She is active in church and community and has two children Cherylene 18 and Carl 14. In another case Clermont County Common Pleas Judge M Dale Osborne to rule on Charles Williams murder verdict with a split trial outcome and life insurance claims.

Engineer Considers Bids for County Road Resurfacing
Batavia County commissioners opened bids Monday for the 1968 road resurfacing liquid stone and blacktop program. Light Construction Co. of Cherry Grove was the apparent low bidder on eight projects, with Cavett Co. of Cincinnati close behind on several items. Pinckney P. Brewer & Sons Co. of Cincinnati led in black topping with additional Brewer bids on two more projects. Proposals total and unit details were sent to Engineer Carl H. Rush for study and recommendation.

Annual Charity Horse Show Set for Clermont County
The Clermont Western Saddle Club hosts a Western horse show to benefit the Clermont County School for Retarded Children. Events include walking horses with performances in the afternoon and evening at the club arena on SR 222 north of Batavia, at the County Service Center.

Restroom policy clash at Grant Birthplace site grips leaders
The Ohio highway department closed restrooms at the Grant Birthplace site after flood damage and frequent flooding. The Historical Society opposes placing facilities in the front yard and calls for restoration by the roadside rest area authorities. A meeting, arranged by Gov. Rhodes's office, will decide responsibility.

Drowning of 13 year old in swollen East Fork river
Timothy Cornelius, 13, drowned Friday while wading at the East Fork of the Little Miami River near Williamsburg Water works dam. Earl Pangallo, 14, tried to rescue him but was swept away. Rescue attempts by Gary Steer and others failed until David A. Black and Mayor Howlett recovered the body at 8:35 p.m. Services held at Williamsburg Methodist Church. Burial at Williamsburg Cemetery. He is survived by his parents Aubrey J. Cornelius and two brothers Terrance and Tony.
