Fred Schnell of Sidney a senior at Concordia Teachers College Seward Neb selected to National College Activities Association membership and Curricula award medal as pin. He is editor of the Golden Embers yearbook and chairs campus activities and organizations. He leads Nebraska Wyoming Talon Quest for Lutheran youth group and serves on the student council with his sister Ella. The Schnell family residence is on the St George ranch near Sidney.

A Navy deserter Clifton C. Moore from LaPorte Iowa was arrested here by Deputy Sheriff Arnold Braasch and FBI. He had evaded for eight months by working in a defense plant an implement company and on farms near Chappell and Sidney. He was jailed in Cheyenne county awaiting transfer to Denver for arraignment before Navy authorities.
