Rash of Hospitalizations and Queen Pageant Aug 29

Dalton area reports several illnesses over the past week. Fred Rathman Jr. and L W Dirks suffered health issues with surgery and a stroke respectively. Elmer Graff also hospitalized after a medicine reaction. The Queen Pageant is scheduled for Saturday night August 29 at the schoolhouse. Committees have been announced for the Fall Festival on September 14 and 15.

AP reports that a girl will replace Jim Hawking in the central role of Treasure Island on Broadway. John C. Fleming adapts the book and writes lyrics with Pembroke Davenport and Eleanor Fleming providing music. The project aims for production next season. Crabgrass, with about 50 species, grows in warmer regions worldwide.
