I thank Polk Fire Department and neighbors for their help during my recent fire. Miss Louise Baack visited Mr Rhode at Arborville. Mr and Mrs R L Smith and family had Sunday dinner with George Lamb in Central City.
A reader thanks Polk County voters for liberal support at the county election. The Lutheran Ladies Aid met at Mrs. Fred Blase’s home with Mrs. Martin Baack assisting. Mr. and Mrs Clarence Bryant and Bobby visited the A Johnson home in Benedict on Sunday.
Rodney Allison remains seriously ill at home though showing some improvement. Numerous social items follow, including Hill couple visiting Stromsburg, pony Tony owned by Frank Adelson and killed by a train, large birthday open houses in Blase and Jones homes, multiple family gatherings in Gustafson and Gustafson households, quilting and social afternoons, and various visitors from nearby towns including Ord, Stromsburg, Columbus, Grand Island, Clarks, and McPherson.
Mrs T D Otte reviews a book as nine members and eight visitors attend the Thursday meeting at Mrs Charles Flick. Numerous local guests visit York area families and area residents, with social visits continuing through the weekend. Maurice Flick celebrates his birthday at home with about thirty friends and relatives.
The Kings Herald met at Jewell Morgan's home with Nancy Reece assisting. Mr and Mrs Orville Mickey attended a funeral in Council Bluffs for Mrs John Simms. Mrs Henning Anderson hosted a birthday party. The M E Church Ladies Aid bazaar and dinner are set for November 18 with 25 and 35 cent meals. The Merry Workers meet at the church with W S Wells and H C Hansen hosting. Leon Rosenberry and family visited Ira Irland. Dr George T Alliband announced the birth of a seven pound daughter to Mr and Mrs Floyd Miller on November 2. Osteola Garden Club meets November 15 at Miss Kilma Johnston's. roll call and program by Howard Peterson. Magazines on hand. public invited. H C Hansen suffered a fall at home last Friday suffering a broken leg. several people assisted.
Alma and Benedict residents travel after word of James H. Creighton death in Benedict. Community members attend church events, visits, and meals. Dr D H Westfall returns to practice. Doc plans unclear future. Several families host guests and travel in Nebraska towns.
Mrs J McCoy entertained the senior class at her home with games and refreshments. Grand Island visitors Mrs S Sniper and Mrs Wen nie Seymour came Tuesday. Rudolph Nyberg and family joined dinner at Emil Stranberg’s in Hordville. August Johnson and Marjory visited York and Stromsburg. The Standard Bearer girls met November 1 with Mag gie Christensen and Maxine Kahler as hostesses. Rev Bail ey and Rev Nelson were entertained at N E McNeely’s home Thursday. Swe de Home Ladies Aid meets Thursday in church parlors with Mrs Chindgren and Mrs Sander Peterson hosting. Choir practice Friday evening. all invited. Ted Fitch of Lincoln and Otlie Johnson’s family visited Bryan Memorial Hospital patient Darlene. Ansel Fredrickson and Dale spent Saturday with Roger Headley near Clarks. Johanna Larson stayed Friday through Monday at the Wm Larson home.
Harold Green Raymond Peter son Leland Widga Ellsworth Carson and Raymond Stevens, York College students, spent the week end here with their families.
