Weekend Visits and Local Health News In Nebraska

Joan Lind spent the weekend with her sister Jeanne in Lincoln. Doris Binford bought a new Chevrolet from Johnson Garage. Emma Anderson returned from Sioux Falls and Omaha after visiting sisters Lillie and Winnie Lind and received back treatments there for a damaged nerve. Floyd Peterson family and Hulda Grenere of Anaheim dined with Al and (Mrs) Larson. Grenere is Larson’s sister. Lyle Dornburg is a patient at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Will Stunkel was taken to Aurora Hospital for treatment last week.

Cox and Carter buy the Mel Hul farm west of Polk, trading property near the Mission Church for the deal.

Baby girl born to Wrights. Betty Stone name chosen

Twenty five years ago on May 6 a nine and a half pound baby girl arrived at the home of Mr and Mrs George Wright. She will be named Betty Stone. Also noted Lela Peterson began work at Johnson's Cafe and Rev and Mrs Westlund welcomed a baby girl on May 11. A surprise party honored L E Jones on his 86th birthday with twelve guests.

Brown's department store hosts sale as others help

May 16 1929 reports show Mrs W E Bedient Mrs Irvin Light Miss Hazel Larson Lela Kroger and Bernice Stevens assisting in Brown's department store during a sale. A baby boy weighing 9 pounds born to Mr and Mrs E B Klingsporn on May 7. Miss Grayce Stevens entertained the telephone force at 6 30 dinner at the Hokenson Hotel in honor of her sister Blanch's birthday. Blanche received a compact set as a keepsake.

Elizabeth Allison Marries Raymond Robertson in Denver

Ten years ago on May 18 1939 Elizabeth Allison of Denver wed Raymond Robertson also of Denver. The ceremony took place May 10 with later social events including York Lodge No 56 hosting Masters Degree conferred by Past Masters. An American Legion Auxiliary luncheon followed at Mrs Gestrines home. Howard Herbes named ambassador to Ak Sar Ben court for Polk. Virginia Emmons and Russell Shenk were married May 15 at Central City Presbyterian Church.
