Little Karen Ann Stevens Receives Nose Injury From Dog Bite

Karen Ann Stevens, daughter of Mr and Mrs Arlo Stevens, was bitten on the nose last Thursday. She received several stitches at Central City hospital and is now at home feeling fine. Mrs Green spent the weekend with her son-in-law and daughter, Clarence Munn family, at Central City. Lois Johnson visited Rosanna Larson of Aurora at the Camp last week.

She returned to the States en route to Washington DC where her status as a government pet analyst will be terminated. Ten members will speak briefly, a 4 H song sung, and Miss Fillman will discuss Japanese reception of 4 H. Mr and Mrs Henry Reed visited in the home of Mr and Mrs L E Blase Tuesday evening. Mrs Elsworth Howe of Santa Barbara California, Mrs Jerry Reichwein of Central City, Mrs Ed Johnson of Hordville, Mrs Harry Carlson and Mrs Harry Jones of near Hordville visited the Elsworths and daughter at Shelby.

An informal Methodist Church reception honored returned soldiers and sailors.

Anniversary and showers mark village life in 1929

Karl Detloff celebrated his 50th anniversary with a Tuesday evening gathering featuring ice cream and cake. A shower at Mrs. Claus Peterson’s home honored Miss Tressa Hill who received many gifts. Harry Carlson took Gilbert Benson to Grand Island for appendicitis surgery. A baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs Ervin Hahn at Vero Lutheran hospital. Mervin Linquist, ten, was taken to York after breaking both bones in his right arm from a fall.

Community Shower Aids Family After Fire

The Baptist Mission Circle sponsored a church parlors shower for Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lyle and daughter who lost most of their clothing and some furniture in a Sunday afternoon fire. Other social items note anniversaries weddings and reunions among local families with several couples honored in June.

A huge mastodon tooth six and one half inches long three and a half inches wide and weighing three and three quarter pounds was dredged from the ocean near New York City.
