Farmers must sign loans or purchase agreements by June 30, 1949. Loans not completed by then will be affected. Apply at once to allow time for inspection and sampling. Purchase agreements may be made in the AAA office without inspection. Details of price support programs available at the office.

Polk County extension reports seed certification plans and aphid issue

The Polk County Extension notes 40 fields of small grains and grasses will be inspected for certified seed by Nebraska Crop Improvement Association inspectors starting around June 16 with completion by July 5 or earlier. Applications for alfalfa red clover soybeans sorghums safflower and sudan grass are due August 1 with inspections to follow. The bulletin lists Polk County farmers applying for crop certification and reports Nebraska oat crop damage from the Bar-Nun 4-H Saddle Club event and aphid infestation in southeast Nebraska with benzene hexachloride dust as the only control noted.

Mrs John Falk guest speaker at WSCS meeting

Mrs John Falk of Stromsburg spoke at the WSCS June meeting at the Methodist church recounting her trip to Sweden. Stromsburg residents Mrs Albertus Larson and Mrs Maurice Lindburg Jr contributed two songs and Larson and her two children also sang. Tea was served to about 50 people by local hosts.

Mrs. Henry Sandell came back Friday morning from a five week vacation in California and Oregon. She visited relatives in Los Angeles and San Francisco and attended the wedding of her niece Shirley Hedeen in Portland. Methodist Youth Camp Opens At Polk Bible Camp

The Intermediate Youth Camp began Sunday at the Camp Grounds south of Polk. Last week Hastings District Methodist church seniors met there with 75 attending. Local member Jeanelle Kroger joined last week. this week Anita Samuels Patty Kisler Sondra Hill attend along with Marlene Anderson and Billie McNaught. District Supt. Richard Carlyon of Hastings leads with several pastors and wives overseeing training meetings.
