Nebraska Picnic Held in Rockford Illinois

The annual Nebraska picnic took place at Blackhawk Park in Rockford on June 19 with over 100 attendees. Former Pawnee county settlers and Polk county residents now in Rock Island Rockford and Tiskilwa gathered for games, races, and family fun. Dan ny Norberg won attendance prizes with Iver Norberg the oldest father and Daryl Hawkinson the youngest. New officers named for next year include George Johnson Laverne Lind and Jerry Norberg.

Bonnie Buchholz Weds Robel Gustafson in Osceola

The Methodist Church in Osceola hosted the June 19 ceremony for Bonnie Lou Buchholz and Robel W. Gustafson. Rev. Hubert Uniderhill officiated as family members attended a reception after a double ring service. The couple, both employed in Lincoln, plan to reside at 10 South 18th Street.

Surprise Anniversary Party for Davis Couple

Friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Davis on their 30th wedding anniversary. The gathering included visiting, card games, and a delicious lunch served by self-invited guests. Polk Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Ed Anderson of Chula Vista California marked their 50th wedding anniversary with open house hosted by Mr and Mrs L C Orendorff on July 3 1949 in Polk Nebraska. The event drew 75 guests as decorations featured gold and white and a heart shaped cake with the number 50. The couple previously lived on a farm near Marquette Nebraska and later Arcadia before moving to California. They have three children LeRoy Lloyd and Mrs L C Orendorf. The Andersons departed for home Monday morning.

Local pastor attends largest Evangelical Free conference

The Evangelical Free Church of America approved a merger with the Norwegian Evangelical Free Church Association and voted to start missionary work in the Philippines. Dr. E. A. Halen (Minneapolis) was re elected president for his 10th term at the 65th annual conference at Mission Farms Medicine Lake near Minneapolis. About 330 delegates from 25 states attended, with total registrations near 1000. Pastor Milford E Olson and family attended and Olson was elected secretary of the national Ministerial Association.

Christian Endeavor Drives for World Convention Funds

At the Tri-County mass meeting in Osceola last Sunday the World Convention at Toronto, July 5 to 10, was announced as the year’s great event. The group seeks representation and asks societies and individuals to donate to the treasury, sent to Miss Mildred Norman, 1221 Kiplinger Ave., York, Nebraska. About fifty dollars is needed to send a delegate.

Sunday July 3 marked the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Walter Bush. Relatives and friends gathered with Mrs Vergil Bush and Mrs Willard Bush hosting. The couple recalled their York marriage trip as guests presented a Sunbeam electric coffeemaker by granddaughter Cheryl Faye Bush.
