Marine Pfc Nickels in Reserve Training at Cherry Point

Marine Private First Class Lloyd L. Nickels of Bradshaw is undergoing two weeks of annual reserve training with Marine Air Base Squadron 43 at Cherry Point North Carolina. He belongs to the Third Engineer Maintenance Squadron of Lincoln.

Mr and Mrs Larry Coover of Ft Leonard Wood Missouri and Mr and Mrs Max Kroger of Sioux Falls South Dakota were weekend visitors in the Paul Coover home. Mr and Mrs Vern Jones Randy Widga and Ben Beetem of Central City were Thursday evening visitors of Mrs Verland Widga in Clarkson Hospital Omaha. Mrs Ruth Kroger of Sioux Falls visited relatives and friends there over the weekend.

Immanuel Ladies Aid Meets in Church July 6

The Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid met in the church parlors on Wednesday July 6. Rev Oppliger led a short business session and the group decided to renew subscriptions to the booklet My Devotions to be sent to Osceola and Central City hospitals. A white elephant auction followed the meeting. Coffee hosts were Mrs Martin Baack and Mrs Louis Heiden.

Picnic honors Sundbergs and Johnsons at Buckley Park

A family picnic at Buckley Park Sunday was hosted by Raymond Sundberg and Calmar Johnson families with Sundbergs from Lincoln and York residents joining. The gathering also marked the birthdays of Mrs. Raymond Sundberg and Calmar Johnson, with Friday visitors noted at Ollie Johnson’s home including Marvin Shenk Stanford Ang and Leslie Adelson families.

Polk Village Board Advances Rent Agreement and Bills

The Polk Village Board met July 5 1966 at the Polk Hotel with all members present. They considered renting the Community Hall third floor to the Masons and Eastern Star for five years at 300 per year and approved. Reports from Light and Water and treasurer were accepted. A request to replace Main Street trash cans was approved. A list of village bills was approved and warrants ordered. The meeting adjourned with Arnold Neuhaus as clerk.
