Polk High hires Karl Adamson as coach and teacher

Karl Adamson is named basketball coach at Polk High School and will teach industrial arts and driver's training. He attended Albon high school and Wayne State College class of 1962, has taught at Belden, Humphrey and Meadow Grove, and plans to move with his wife and young daughter to Polk in early August.

Jay Shaw left Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha by plane for California and said he would depart for Saigon at 3 30 Monday morning. His parents Mr and Mrs Wendell Shaw received a call Sunday evening.

Polk Garden Club Plans For Bean Day

The Polk Garden Club held a July 19 meeting and picnic in Polk park with 15 members, husbands and families. Members planned a flower and vegetable exhibit for Polk Bean Day and appointed committees for various projects. Anyone may bring entries for Bean Day. The August 16 meeting will be at Marie Hoffman’s home.

Rainfall Tuesday evening ranged from 14 inches and less to over 3 inches, cooling temperatures. Unofficial Polk reports show 1% to 4 inches, with a mile north of town over 2 inches and northern farms receiving 3 inches or more.
