Senate Agriculture Bill passes amid farm policy debate

In a heated session the Senate advanced the Agriculture Bill with amendments debated over cultivation and soil conservation measures. A late farm age prohibition amendment failed as did a motion to recommit. Army and Agriculture appropriations paths set for House and Senate respectively. Nebraska Social Security figures allocate Old Age Assistance 14800, Blind Administration 740, Dependent Children 75178.

Union Pacific to buy fifteen Challenger locomotives

W M Jeffers announces Union Pacific will order fifteen 4-6-6-4 simple articulated high speed freight locomotives from American Locomotive Company New York. The $2 million order covers delivery starting July with engines built to Union Pacific design. Each locomotive weighs 4321/2 tons, is 110 feet long, and develops 100000 pounds of tractive effort. Tenders hold 22 tons coal and 19000 gallons water.

County Board action and tax list notes from 1936 meeting

County Board adjourned after approving road district payments and tax list issues. Names listed include Hackberry, North Canada, West Stromsburg precincts with petit jury selections and various individuals responsible for labor, supplies, and relief aid. Adjournment set for March 5 1936 with S J Harless as chairman.
