A late blizzard, starting Thursday, dumps ten to twelve foot drifts that seal the town from trains and autos. Cold winds return, snow plows operate, and Polk remains isolated despite coal and groceries. locals fear what the week will bring.
All legal voters in Folk Nebraska are notified a caucus will be held Monday February 24 1936 at 9 PM in the School District No 72 building Polk County for nominating candidates for three vacancies on the Village Board of Trustees. School caucus at 8 PM. R J Allison Village Clerk.

Vernon Johnson of Osceola is named Polk County Union Pacific 4-H scholarship winner for 1933. State 4-H office at University of Nebraska College of Agriculture made the announcement through Agricultural Agent Kelly. Thirty-one scholarships were awarded across as many counties, each aiding education with values up to 100 dollars for use at Nebraska colleges or related short courses, or 50 dollars for other courses.
Nebraska launches a state wide seed corn testing program with cooperation from county agents farmers Smith Hughes instructors bankers civic groups the department of agriculture and the National Youth Administration. Kelly oversees a seed testing station with W P A labor while farmers bring seed to the Osceola Court House for germination tests.
Clarke McNary farmstead planting program sees Scotts Bluff County leading with 31,400 trees sought through Extension Forester Earl G Maxwell at the Nebraska College of Agriculture. Fillmore 21,700. Adams 13 8 700. others include Lincoln Gage Holt Antelope Phelps Cuming Cherry. Polk County reports 9,300 trees via Agent Kelly Osceola. Farmers urged to apply now by mail or in person.

Polk friends report Mrs Josephine Millen of Denver writes that Mrs Hedbloom is seriously ill in a Denver hospital with a nervous breakdown. Card showers are requested to aid her recovery at Porter Sanitarium and Hospital South Downing Denver Colorado.
Hordville residents host and visit friends across nearby towns. Miss Berniece Anderson from Stromsburg spends the week at Ray Phillips home. Nellie Beth Shoaf calls at Ray Phillips on Sunday. Harriet Ang stays at C Q Bodine home after Saturday night. Marian Jones and Alvin Stranberg reside at Clarence Bodine home due to bad roads. Helen Jacobson of Central City arrives to replace Mabel Graham at the telephone office. Ferne Campbell returns from Omaha for a short visit. Lillie Hilligas was on the sick list. Kari Steurmer and R C Gustafson visit Lincoln and Grand Island over the weekend. Ivan King visits Grand Island last Friday.
A cameraman assaulted Reginald Barrygable by striking him in the nose during filming. Police were called and the incident prompted an early end to the shoot. No further injuries reported at press time.

The second annual Founders' Day gathering will occur Saturday February 29 in Lincoln. Principal speakers include Mrs. George B. Simmons of Missouri and Kansas Governor Alf Landon. Registration is 1.50 dollars covering banquet and reserved seating. advance reservations via County Chairman Roy L. Ericson.
Agricultural Agent Kelly announces farmers can bring A. A. A. Farm Record Books to the agricultural agents office for completeness checks and receive a new free book. Three WPA workers are assigned to assist, and officials hope farmers will use the service.
John Nicholson 42 died at his Hordville farm home after a yearlong illness including diabetes and heart trouble. Severe weekend snow prevented visitors until Monday. Funeral held at Federated Church with Rev. James B. Brown officiating. He leaves wife KE Milner and three children John Jr Jerome and an infant. He survived by two brothers and three sisters. pallbearers braved snow to attend. Interment in Aurora cemetery.
