Telltale Lights Aid Navigation of Ships
Washington reports new distance telling signals from lighthouses and lightships to measure distance to reefs. Twenty nine stations on Atlantic Gulf coasts tested the system with radio and sound signals to aid ships in fog. The system began in 1929 at Cape Henry and Poe Reef and expanded to Great Lakes and West Coast stations through 1936.
