Cat Clings To 33 000-volt Pole Locks York Crew In Dilemma

A cat perched atop a high 33 000 volt pole in York kept motionless as Earl Kerwood and his Iowa Nebraska Light and Power line crew hesitated to risk lives. After two days, Kerwood ultimately moved service to a different line and retrieved the cat unhurt but hungry. Mrs John A Adelson dies at 64 in Polk Nebraska

Emma Amelia Frieberg Adelson born February 23 187. moved to Nebraska as a young woman. She married John A Adelson March 5 1896 and had six children. Survived by husband two daughters Lillian Scholz Hazel Wurtz Osceola two sons Arthur Leslie four grandchildren one sister Mary Becleman Polls and many relatives. Funeral at Swede Plain Church with Rev E E Pengelly of Poll officiating. Interment in Swede Plain Cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Nelson King returned from Bayard where they visited friends and relatives last week. Andrew Nelson of St Edwards spent Tuesday in Polk on business. The German Lutheran Ladies Aid met at Mrs Ernest Hahn’s home with hostesses Mil ford Johnson August Garl ing and Robert Keuper assisting. A Christmas program followed by lunch was served. Various couples hosted meals with friends in town, including the Cohagan and Green households. Vale Holmes departed from Grand Island to Overton after visiting here. Carl Axbury of Clay Center spent Friday with Oscar Anderson. A residential ad offers six months of World Herald plus magazines for five dollars, urging subscription and local polls.

The Swede Home Ladies celebrated Mrs. Charles Anderson's birthday at her home. The TCW Club will meet with Mrs David Jones next Friday afternoon. Local families hosted dinners and visits in Stromsburg, Grand Island, Omaha, and Polk. A candle light service at Swede Home Church moved to 4 30 PM.

Death of John Swanson in stormsburg area

John Swanson aged 83 died at a Grand Island hospital early Tuesday after a period of failing health. A longtime resident of about 35 years, he was taken to the Grand Island hospital around Thanksgiving. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the J. L. Olson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs Minnie Johnson

Funeral services were held at the Swedish Free Mission Church on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. S. C. Theo Ramsey in charge. Mrs. Johnson, 68, had resided in the locality for years and died at home after several weeks illness. Surviving are three children Helen Carl at home and Harold of Denver, plus several brothers and sisters.

The Stromsburg Community Club hosted the annual football banquet in the High School Auditorium honoring Coach Mervin Hersey and the 1936 Viking Eleven. Speakers included Dana X Bible and Sam Francis with Lloyd Cardwell. Ben Everley named 1937 Viking captain. letters awarded to the 1936 squad.

Pioneer Matron Hattie E. Miller Dies at 69 in Clarks Nebraska

Hattie E Miller died December 35 1936 at her home in Clarks Nebraska aged 69 years 5 months 20 days. She moved from Duchess County New York to Nebraska with her parents and married twice first to John Howard then to Micholas Krier. She held church roles in LaClade Baptist Polk and later Congregational work in Clarks and left behind a sister and brother and many friends.

Hydrant Hit Caps Osceola Water Supply Repairs Run Night

A Kansas driver struck a broken hydrant near the depot in Osceola, forcing a water shutoff for hours Saturday night. Water crews led by Cummings, Bill Jackson, and Bill Harrison worked through subzero cold to repair the damage. Damages were being settled with the car only lightly damaged.
