Easter Sunday visits brighten Polk county families

Mr and Mrs Floyd Shockey and family greeting Mrs Florence Shockey in York along with several Shockeys and Patraws. A Saturday supper at Paul Coover’s home welcomed Max Kroger of Sioux Falls, Larry Coover, Eddie, and other guests. Visitors Barbara Glasser and Jim Chesebro from Moody Bible Institute joined Beverly Glasser and Ron Adams from Denver at Roy Glasser Jr. home for several days.

50th Anniversary of Elmer and Mabel Knerr

Don Dahlin announces re election bid while Elmer and Mabel Knerr host a 50th anniversary open house in Chappell Nebraska on April 28 1968 from 2 to 4 pm. Mabel Fisher wed Elmer Knerr in Osceola on April 25 1918 and the couple later moved to Polk County before settling in Chappell with twin sons Lowell and Lyle.

Eyesight Improves. Fairfield Reader Sends Progress Request

A Fairfield reader from Polk County, Nebr., April 1968 reports improved eyesight and reads the Polk Progress again. The letter thanks the paper for keeping residents connected and mentions plans to live at home with help. The note includes a submission of four dollars and a statement of continued local interest.

Local residents host visitors and attend weddings

Pastor and Mrs Gene Wood were York visitors Monday and joined lunch with friends. Don Eaton and Karen Wentner wed at the Central City Christian Church Saturday with many local guests. Several families shared Sunday dinners in Benedict, Central City, Wilber, Lincoln and Osceola. Easter plans include Miss Marie Carlson visiting from Wesleyan University.
