Airman Rex L Nissen stationed with 4258th Wing in Thailand

Airman First Class Rex L Nissen son of Delmar and Nissen of Hampton is assigned to the 4258th Strategic Wing at U Tapao Airfield Thailand. He serves as a SAC aircraft mechanic supporting B 52 bombers and KC 135 tankers in the Vietnam air war after previously serving at Minot AFB North Dakota. Nissen is a 1965 Marquette High School graduate. Easter Sunday family gatherings noted in Lincoln with the Baack and Blase families.

An Open House at the Hillis Sterner home Sunday celebrated Frank Merchant turning 82. Nearby Polk Methodist Church marks its 80th anniversary with Bishop H B Watts as guest speaker on May 4. Members Emory Cramer visited Floyd Patron home Osceola. Orlie Miller Vern Jones return from four day Purina Farm and Laboratories tour in St. Louis. Hardville grade school staged the operetta Cabbage Patch Maggie Friday in the auditorium under Miss Verna Erickson and Mrs Campbell and Mrs Marriman guidance.

Legion Auxiliary Regular Meeting Highlights

The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Legion Hall on Monday evening April 8 led by Vice President Elaine Miller. Reports covered Junior Auxiliary, Easter cards sent to 24 servicemen, Eastern Star dinner details, Red Cross Bloodmobile, and upcoming events in Shelby and Osceola. Poppy Day set for May 18 and nominations discussed. three eighth grade girls earned Americanism Essays. A light lunch for 17 members and one visitor followed.

The Pins and Pans 4-H Club met March 30 at Wendy Redman's home. Peggy Lindburg joined as a new member. The club planned a community project to send mended used clothes to an orphanage. Lunch was provided by the Lets Cook group. Next meeting April 27 at Cindy Tewell’s home.
