Folk High Takes Third in County Track Meet
Polk finished third at the county track meet held in Polk last Thursday afternoon behind Osceola 77, Stromsburg 49, Polk 31, and Shelby 23.14. Bob Brockevelt won the discus with 138 feet, Dob Neuhaus won the pole vault at 11 feet 1 inch, Tom Stevens placed in several events, Arnie Mertthant took second in the 880, Mike Lindburg second in the 440, and Stevens earned thirds and seconds in jumps and the 220 yard dash. The team also competed at Stromsburg Tuesday and travels to a triangular next Wednesday, with the Kearney Invitational slated for Friday and Saturday next week.

Polk Rates Near Top In Music Festival
The Goldenrod Conference Pre contest Music Festival at Genoa on April 2 saw Polk High perform with a full quota of groups and solos. They earned 14 superiors and five goods, finishing second in superiors behind a school with fifteen.
