A large turnout of 34 farmers met in Osceola for Polk County Noxious Weed District business. They re elected Homer Brigham and H P Tewell to the board as discussion urged tougher weed laws and broader control across the state.

Centennial Committee Sifts Plan For River Trail County Project
The Polk County Centennial Committee met at Jim Wilson's Polk home with ten in attendance. President Bob Bryan read letters from state offices as Norris Alfred proposed the Plane River Trail as a county project and it was accepted. The County Youth Building was dropped for lack of interest. Next meeting set for May 12 at Bernt's Cafe Shelby. Saturday visitors to Laurel included Merle LaVelle and others visiting Jack LaVelle and Charles Lytle households.

County Teachers Institute Set for April 9
The Polk county Teachers Institute will be Friday for all elementary teachers. The meeting will be at the Stromsburg elementary school at 9 a.m. Mrs Betty Majors, county supt., said Dr. Ward Sims, associate professor of elementary education at University of Nebraska, will give the presentation on science.
