Reappraisal Begins in Polk County

Appraisers from Justin H. Haynes & Co. will inspect interior of residences in Polk City. Exterior measurements and photographs follow. Residents urged to cooperate to speed the process as reappraisals are state mandated to equalize county values.

Elaine Ostrander Weds Lanny Rasmussen in Polk Ceremony

Elaine Ostrander daughter of Mrs Frank Ostrander of Polk married Lanny Rasmussen son of Mr and Mrs Martin Rasmussen of St Edward in a 2 p.m. Polk Methodist church ceremony officiated by Rev Harold Jensen. Lois Ostrander was maid of honor and Alien Dale Benson served as best man with a reception in the church basement. The couple will live on a farm near St Edward after a short honeymoon. The Home Society meets April 21.

Jack Myers Receives PTA Honorary Life Membership

Jack Myers, former Polk resident and Rogers Junior High science and student government teacher in Long Beach California, received the Distinguished Service to Youth award as an honorary PTA life member. Myers, 1951 Polk High School graduate with degrees from Nebraska Wesleyan San Jose State College, is a Naval Reserve lieutenant and grandson of Mrs J B Myers.

Polk Lodge Wins Unwritten Work at 38th Rebekah Meet

The 38th annual Rebekah Lodges meeting for District 14 convened in Polk community hall with eighty members in attendance. Polk lodge won the unwritten work contest with Josephine Strand as a Polk lodge participant. new officers for 1966 include dist. president Ruby Barlean Emma Schl esinger secretary Ethel Vanmetre treasurer Opal Benedict and warden Olive Ready. Lunch followed at IMF hall served by Arborville church ladies.

Easter Cantata Presented by Central City Group

Mrs Julian Byers Mrs Lislynn Terris Mrs George Brandes Mrs Floyd Gorgen of Central City and Mrs Ruth Kroger joined Wednesday at Laurel as dinner guests of Mrs Fred Burns. They presented The Easter Prayer cantata at the Methodist church with WSCS members from nearby towns invited.

Faithful Workers Club plans annual bus tour and banquet

The Faithful Workers Club met at Esther Lars home on March 24 with 31 members and guests. Plans for the March 31 bus trip to the Cinerama in Omaha were finalized and an All-sports Banquet for Polk High athletes was set for April 12 with Coach Allen Zikmund as speaker.

Widgas celebrate golden wedding at Polk Methodist Church

Mr and Mrs Richard Widga marked their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday April 4 at Polk Methodist Church. Guests enjoyed a short program with poems by grandchildren Mary Jo and Richard Widga a cornet duet by Sydney and Gail Widga and a vocal solo by Mrs Don Ostberg. Donavin Widga served as master of ceremonies objects were presented by Norma Schneder and Mrs Dale Heston.

Mission talk by Congo missionary at Evangelical Free church

The church Women Missionary Society met on April 1 with Miss Marilyn Carlson as guest speaker describing her Congo mission work. Mrs Pinkernell and Mrs Nyberg led program, Rev Pinkernell and others sang, lunch served by Mrs Rodine families. Voters later tallied school and village board results. Rehearsal planned for Polk Community Chorus April 11 ahead of Palm Sunday concert.
