Garden club decorates Kroger windows with spring motifs
The Polk Garden Club displays in the Kroger building announce the coming spring planting season. The north window features Windmills of Holland with Dutch children, a canal scene, a sailing boat and a bridge while the south window shows dolls in sun bonnets with garden tools seeds and sprinkling cans. Bouquets of tulips pussywillows and spring flowers add color to the display.

Cheese lesson and St Patrick event for ODD Dozen Club

Mrs Grace Menssen Brauer age 89 of Polk widow of Herman G Brauer longtime owner operator of Brauer Funeral Home died Friday at daughter’s rural Hampton home after three months of heart illness Born April 10 1875 in Hanover Germany she came to the United States at age seven The Brauers operated the Polk funeral home and celebrated their 50th anniversary February 23 1947 She was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and charter member of Ladies Aid and Woman Missionary League Surviving daughters grand children great grandchildren and siblings Funeral held Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church Polk Interment in church cemetery
