Seed per acre for corn and soybeans debated by factors
Farmers must adjust seed rates for corn and soybeans based on soil organic matter fertility and planting date. Ohio hybrids suggest 18 000 to 24 000 plants per acre for 150 bushel corn, with an ideal harvest target near 20 000. Seed loss and row spacing affect final stand, while soybeans need careful thinning as pounds per acre vary widely from 2900 to 3900 seeds per pound.
