At Dong Ha a combined American South Vietnamese force repelled a four day attack by a full North Vietnamese division. About 856 of 8,000 attackers were killed while 5,000 allied troops defended the base near the DMZ. Marines recovered weapons from fallen foes amid intense fighting.

Woman freed on DUI faces charges in fatal Route 9 crash

Four hours after bail on drunken driving, 62 year old Helen Rose of Mansfield Pennsylvania was arrested in Cape May New Jersey for reckless killing by auto. Police said her car struck three girls walking on Route 9. Deborah Thomas died from a skull fracture. the other two girls were treated and released.
