Two Greenwich Queens Lead Centenary Weekend Parade
Greenwich marks its 100th birthday with a centennial parade led by Ruth Templer 82 and Tina McCormack 17. Templer, longtime teacher, recalls old greenwich days while McCormack, a South Central senior active in band and student government, shines in the pageant and will join a four day festival ending with a demolition derby. The celebration doubles as the village Firemen's Festival with events at the intermediate school field and a new village museum room at Treasure House.

Greenwich village history marks incorporation and growth through rail era
Greenwich 100 years ago saw incorporation as a village with elections for officials and council. From early settlers led by Henry Carpenter to the arrival of the B&O and Big Four rail lines, growth spurred by a depot, street paving, and sewer plans followed. By 1950 the town bought water land, flood events occurred in 1969, and industrial expansion continued.
