Jammed gun saves Greenwich officer during assault

Patrolman Donald Murray faced six assailants while responding to a keys theft call in Greenwich. A jammed pistol apparently prevented a fatal shot, leaving Murray with a fingertip graft and hospital treatment. Police questioned suspects. no charges yet as authorities investigate. Murray, a new full-time officer, and Chief Kilgore head the small force.

Pact breaks down as Gould strike continues in Milan

Gould Corp striking workers of MESA Local 59 returned briefly to work amid talks that would open if they came back. Moffitt said talks broke down when the union refused. Union leaders denied any such agreement, insisting the strike continues with full backing from MESA national headquarters. A restraining order limits pickets to two per entrance as negotiations stall.

Judge names member to Ehove panel

Erie County Judge James McCrystal appoints Larry Krugman a 29 year old industrial relations manager at American Crayon as the third member and chairman of the Ehove Joint Vocational School impasse panel. Krugman will meet each side separately before a joint session to craft guidelines and recommendations within a 15 day period.
