Bell says ending measured rate will raise home service costs
Ohio Bell officials told a Senate panel that restricting measured rate service could push basic telephone prices higher. Vice president Joseph Reed argued that ending the option may nearly double home exchange charges, as 220000 Ohioans currently save with the plan while critics say Bell profits from it. The bills seek cost based pricing and quarterly rate reports, but Reed warned such changes threaten low cost service and could raise residential and business charges.
