Plains Cotton Council opposes wage hour plan
The Plains Farming Council and National Cotton Council warn that expanding minimum wage and overtime coverage to farm labor and processing workers would raise costs, worsen cotton’s economy, and trigger hardship for farmers and displaced workers. They urge defeat of the bills, arguing agriculture remains exempt. The piece also notes a potential shift to an international grain agreement that could threaten sorghum exports.
