Quints Born To New Zealand Couple Stun Locals

A New Zealand couple welcomed a set of five healthy quintuplets after a Tuesday night birth at National Women’s Hospital in Auckland. The single boy weighed four pounds and four girls ranged from 3 pounds 3 ounces to 4 pounds 3 ounces. The birth, the fourth known liv­ing quintuplet group, follows prior sets including the Dionnes. The Lawson family also has one older daughter.

Three Rescued After Mid Air Plane Crash

In San Diego California three airmen were plucked from the sea after two U.S. Navy A6 Intruder jets collided 70 miles southeast of the city. Four parachutes opened from the 13 000 foot high crash. A search continued for the fourth airman. Identity and condition of the rescued airmen were not available. The cause of the collision was under investigation.

A stalled cool front triggered late night thunderstorms across the South Plains with heavy showers north and east of Lubbock and scattered rain near Ropesville Woodrow Littlefield Petersburg and Crosbyton. Across Texas the heat persisted Wichita Falls topped 100 for the 22nd straight day as Claude Amarillo and others reported varied rainfall.
