Elyria mother gets six months for pepper spray assault
Jessica Houze 28 of Elyria was sentenced to two years on probation with up to six months in Lorain County Jail after pleading guilty to two counts of felony assault for pepper spraying Assistant Principal Katie Huff and Principal Joel Melvin at Hamilton Elementary School in Elyria. Judge Chris Cook ordered jail time eligible for early release with good behavior and warned of prison if she violates terms. Huff, eight months pregnant at the time, and Melvin obtained civil protection orders. both described fear and impact on students, staff and the school community.
