Girls Flag Football Booms Across Lorain County
A feature on the rising popularity of female flag football in Northeast Ohio highlights a Browns Stadium tournament, a growing high school program, and a North Ridgeville graduate earning a spot on USA Football s Women s Flag National Team. The sport has expanded from 4 schools in 2021 to 51 this year with strong youth participation and local figures like Isabella Geraci and coach Chuck Kyle driving the trend. The May Cleveland tournament crowned Kirtland for the second straight year as participation nears 130000 girls ages 6-12 and over 100000 ages 13-17 nationwide, signaling sustained growth and opportunity for younger players through leagues and clubs.
