Watchers Help Free Hawk Near Lakeview Park Fence
Lorain resident Jerry Fleming spotted a crowd around a fledgling hawk at Lakeview Park on Friday and rescued the bird from a fence. Wildlife volunteer Janice Farrall took the hawk to the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center for a health check, then released him back into a tree. The hawk was found to be in good shape and appeared unsettled but unharmed, Fleming said. Hare relayed it was a learning fledgling likely stuck in the fence, and the rescue ended with the bird returned to the park.
