The Apollo Theater hosted a screening of Awakening to Justice a 35 minute film by Untamed pairing with a related book by religious scholars. Rev A G Miller Oberlin House of the Lord Fellowship and Oberlin College professor introduced the event noting a grant funded the film and that the project connects faith and race with 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. The discussion followed a panel with historian Chris Momany Kurt Russell and others examining Oberlin history including a deed restriction against Black residents. The project aims to move from scholarship to action with resources on awakeningtojustice com and study guides on the book’s site.
