The Livestock Feeders and Breeders met to organize a local Livestock Association. District Rally Day Draws Isabela County 4-H Members
Ruth McKinlay reports six hundred Home Demonstration club women from seven counties gathered for the District Rally Day in Midland on October 5. Tours of Dow Gardens and Dow Plant, county reports, and a keynote by Dr. Rev. Ruins of Lansing highlighted the program. Isabella County led projects including kitchen work for the 4-H Building and fundraising for a community building.

Ram Truck Day Draws Local Sheep Trade at Clare Farm
Local sheep owners gathered one mile north of Clare for the Ram Truck Day at Julius Schaeffer farm. The event saw more purchases by buyers than from the truck itself as rams of high quality sold for 5 to 10 dollars less than last year. Local buyers including Milo Eldred and A A Moore and Sons bought Hampshire and Oxford rams, with several transactions involving out of county buyers and a Suffolk exchanged for an Oxford. The Michigan Livestock Exchange offered western ewes priced 14.50 to 21.50 to boost flocks.

Fester sale at Gaylord Livestock Yards set for Oct 14
The Gaylord sale of cattle scheduled for Thursday October 14 in the Livestock Yards north of Gaylord expects strong turnout. A total of 1220 cattle have been signed, the largest consignments yet, compared with 984 in 1953. Cattle will be offered in small, uniform lots chosen by Michigan State College specialists to aid buyers in sizing up original conditions and making suitable selections.
