Dr. W. H. Andrew pastor of the First Baptist church preached the summer school commencement sermon at Baylor college Belton. The service in Alma Reeves Chapel featured a college music program and 30 graduates in the women’s class. He traveled with Mrs. Andrew and son Billy Andrew from Bryan. heavy rains were reported in Bell county and area on Saturday night and Sunday.

Three Brazos Negroes Jailed in Caldwell Burglary Case

Three Brazos county men Paul A C Lang A G Square and Howard Douglass were taken to Caldwell to answer burglary charges in a plantation store theft. Revival Service at Edge Attracts Additions

Thirty First Baptist members traveled to Edge Sunday to hear Dr. W H Andrew preach. Rev J J Pipkin led the Edge church morning service with six new members added at the evening. The revival continues four nights through Wednesday. A group plans to return with Dr Andrew at 7 PM.

Officers Named For Two Groups At Short Course

The twenty fourth annual Farmers Short Course at Texas A and M College ended with officers selected for the coming year by several groups. Among those choosing leaders were the Texas Home Demonstration Association, the County School Superintendents group, and the 4 H club boys and girls. Mrs Josie Englin of Hamshire Jefferson county was named president of the Texas Home Demonstration Association.

Mrs. Ben Anthony of Mineola retires as president at the closing meeting this afternoon. New officers elected Thursday include a vice president at large nine district vice presidents a secretary and a treasurer for a two year term. Delegates totaled 799 with over 40 000 association members in the state. County School Superintendents elected John eo Long Crockett and J. D. Wilson Wellington as chair and vice chair for the coming year. Demonstrations covered moccasins, rug making, cheese, syrup, tanning, cotton processing, meat, wool, dairying, poultry, and pest control, featuring lectures by Whitehead and others. The week ended with a Kyle Field evening of tug of war and dynamometer contests and a campus dance with the Aggieland Orchestra.

Burleson County Burglary Leads to Three Jailed

Three men were jailed Wednesday evening by Constable Horace Reed and Officer Les Norwood after a burglary at the J. Earl Porter store on a Burleson County plantation. A large haul including men's clothing silk lingeries hosiery and other items was recovered.

Albert Yeager Freed in Robertson County Murder Trial

Albert Yeager, a Black man charged with murder in Robertson County, was found not guilty by a jury after a brief 15 minute deliberation. Lamar Bethea of Bryan defended Yeager and rested his case when the state rested.

Complete Paving Of Hiway No. 21 Opens This Week

Concrete pouring on Highway No. 21 west of Bryan is finished and the full stretch to the Little Brazos river is expected to be open this weekend. Speculation grows on a contract for Highway No. 6 from College Station south and about an emergency $4 per capita highway appropriation that could yield around $80,000 for this county. Local road advocates will push to secure the No. 6 paving funds and contract soon.
