Bryan tenor Jorge Griffin, who studied in New York, and his mother Mrs. Jesse Griffin, return from a two week visit to Beeville Corpus Christi relatives. They spent Saturday and Sunday in Houston with Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Campbell. Griffin sang in churches and civic meetings and at a musicale for relatives near Beeville at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Oraven.

City Clears Paved Streets After Heavy Rains

RFC funded workers began cleaning city streets this morning to remove dirt and debris washed onto the pavement by recent heavy rains. The operation targets accumulated material and aims to restore drivable streets.

Chinese elm roadside avenue planted around Lubbock

The Lubbock station began introducing the Chinese elm in 1919 and since has promoted widespread planting across West Texas. This spring an effort with civic leaders, the State Highway Department, and the Experiment Station planned an avenue of Chinese elms two miles on each side of five highways out of Lubbock. About 4,000 trees were planted, including 1,000 from the station for trials and demonstration.

Revival closes as 15 join church in North Zulch area

Rev R L Brown led a July revival at Free Baptist Church from July 16 to 23 with 15 new additions, two by letter, and several by baptism. The event drew good crowds and reported harmony, while other locals and visiting preachers attended related meetings and social gatherings in North Zulch and nearby Bryan.

College Station July 27 Nationally known educators and editors spoke at a dinner during the Texas A and M twenty fourth annual farmers short course. Negro Shot Dead On Jones Road In Murders Outside Town

Sheriff J H Reed and Officer Lee Norwood found Tom Miles shot with a shotgun in the left shoulder along Jones road. Hubert Burkholder, a county highway worker guarding a tractor, surrendered after Miles allegedly tried to siphon gasoline. Burkholder charged with murder and released on bond as County Attorney Oak McKenzie investigates.
