Hub man killed in mill fire at Grand Isle mill

Dennis Chamberlain of Boston died in a fast moving blaze that destroyed the Grand Island Lumber Company plant at Grand Isle Maine. The mill burned tinder dry and 15 workers were trapped inside before rescue could reach them.

Fire Claims Mill Worker Amid Wall of Flame Loss

A wall of fire severely burned workers as they escaped a mill blaze. All escaped except Chamberlain who was overwhelmed and died. He had worked for the company for several months. The mill loss is estimated at 75,000 dollars.
