Taft remarks on Aunt Delia pies at Milbury platform

Former President William H. Taft spoke from a Milbury platform where Mrs. Taft and Aunt Delia Torrey sat. He noted Aunt Delia's famous apple pies are legendary, but he never received one in his life yet added that she can make some fine mince pies.

Taft Attends Milbury Centennial Events

Professor Taft attended the Milbury town centennial featuring open air talks with Gover nor Pothier Congressman Winslow and Mayor Wright. He recalled boyhood days in the town and praised local landscape and air while noting his health and the town’s example in American fatherhood. Taft and Mrs. Taft departed for New Haven after his son’s Yale graduation.

Dorchester Club Honors Mayor Fitzgerald with Reception

The Dorchester Club hosted a reception and dance in honor of Mayor Fitzgerald and Mrs. Fitzgerald at the Talbot avenue clubhouse. Colonel Thomas F. Doherty presented the mayor a large portrait while Mrs. Fitzgerald received a basket of red roses. About five hundred friends attended, celebrating with lights, bunting, and dancing as the mayor joked about grandchildren.

Imperator Starts Maiden Voyage Amid Severe Storm

Hamburg June 11 The giant steamship Imperator of the Hamburg American line began her maiden trip to New York at 4 pm. Severe storms forced most vessels to shelter along the coast and tore the Osterriff lightship from its moorings. The Imperator, too large for a regular pier, left its anchorage in the open roadstead after uprooting its special moorings. Passenger list shows 250 in first class 250 in second and 2270 in third and steerage. The remainder board at Southampton and Cherbourg.

Wilson may not stay at summer White House much this year

Washington June 11 President Wilson may spend little time at the summer White House this season. The president's family is likely to be there almost continuously after the Fourth of July for a long stay, though the president himself may visit only late in the season.

Prince Louis On Tour Around World

A Genoa dispatch says Prince Louis Philippe Duke of Orleans, under the name Count Philippe de Villiers, has left for Buenos Aires and plans to voyage around the world. The pending divorce suit for separation alimony and restoration of large sums funds filed by the Duchess of Orleans against him adds interest to the report.

Vigil Over Sick Child Ends in Tragic Death

Mrs. Caroline Sakoloski of 86 Yorktown Street West Somerville killed herself after caring for her 2-year-old ill child. She slit her throat yesterday morning before ambulance arrival to Somerville Hospital. Last Friday she attempted suicide by leaping from the West Boston bridge into the river and was rescued.

Mammoth iceberg sighted by Olympic near Titanic site

New York June 11. The steamer Olympic reported sighting a mammoth iceberg with twin peaks about 120 feet above water at sunrise last Sunday. The berg was several hundred miles from the Titanic's sinking location and appeared to be breaking up as the Olympic steamed by.
