Remains of Alice Funk Laid to Rest in Wooster Cemetery
The remains of Alice Funk were interred beside her mother in Wooster Cemetery after a funeral at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev E Y DeBois, with Rev W A Littell assisting. The service featured music by Miss Gertrude Plank and floral tributes from the Sunday school class of Arka. Funk, once from Wooster, had worked in the American cereal mills and later at Goodrich Co. Her residence included time at 734 Elma Street with Mrs Owens, who described turbulent marital tensions leading to Funk leaving. She then walked to the Cuyahoga River bridge, contemplated self harm, and submerged after a hat was blown into the river by an approaching barge. The report notes uncertain details and mentions prior illness treated with various remedies.
