A Dakota Farmer reader argues farmers must stop chasing wholesale groceries and instead use clubs to study hands on farming. He urges topics from fencing, barn building, road work, and stock shipping to grow smarter, with better participation and accountability, and suggests structured meetings with questions and blackboard exercises. He also shares a second letter from Alfred Wenz about alfalfa fed hogs and pasture practice, detailing hog housing, breeding stock, and pasture management.

Public notice on Shorthorn bulls sale in Williston
During the Williston sale on March 16, 12 Canadian Shorthorn bulls imported by Frank Banks and Joe Wegley were discussed. The speaker explains the Canadian books register these bulls, but US registration costs would be $100 per bull plus fees for offspring. Some bulls were TB negative. others were condemned in Canada but tested clean in sale. Banks and Wegley sought full disclosure, stating nothing would be sold falsely. The speaker predicts possible unification of registries to accept Canadian cattle, arguing the Canadian record is valid and that the ban is an unfair barrier.
