Postoffice Inspector E. E. Fraser, returning from Bay City Minnesota, reports burglars dynamited safes in Bay City and nearby towns. Locals near the La Crosse post office and general store heard dynamite blasts, mistaking them for a banging screen door. They slept on, enabling the robbers to escape at dawn.
