Death of Silas Coulter Father of Local Residents
Silas Coulter aged sixty seven died last Thursday at the home of his son L V Coulter. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 30 PM in the M E church conducted by Rev Hollett and interment followed at Williston cemetery. Born in Ashland County Ohio in 1841 he served a year in the army and later lived in Jasper County Iowa where he married Rosana Ferrell. Four children Charley Olive Lester and Earnest survived with Charley and Olive dead. He lived in Jasper County until 1896 then moved to Pocahontas County Iowa with Earnest, later to Williston in 1905 to live with Lester. He had filed on a claim northwest of the city about a year ago and spent most of last summer there.
