Georgia Good Roads Group Pushes Bonds for State Highways
The highway committees of the Georgia senate and house heard arguments from the Georgia Good Roads Association in favor of a bond issue. Legislators expect a bond plan to pass and be put to voters in November. The amount will match federal funds and start major state highway building. The association will run a statewide education campaign to show roads can be built by bonds without raising taxes, funded by gas tax and motor license fees. Members urged joining with a five dollar annual fee to support the effort, sending applications to William E. Keith, secretary in Atlanta. A strong, representative fund would boost passage in November.
