Claude Christian Narrowly Avoids Collision at Crossing
Saturday afternoon Claude Christian's Buick was struck by a switch engine near the Darby mill. Christian and Mrs. W. H. McWhorter escaped unharmed as box cars on a siding blocked his view. He tried to cross the Seaboard Railway main line but could not stop in time, the engine hitting the car's front and crushing the right front wheel while demolishing the fender and headlight.

Will Jones, a Black mill worker, is jailed at Lyons charged with attempting to rape Kibbee Bell's daughter near Haskins Mill. Death Claims Prominent Normantown Citizen
Normantown resident T. A. Rockett 48 died Sunday afternoon at his home from heart trouble and paralysis after a few weeks illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 from his home led by Rev. C. E. McDaniel. burial followed at Pine Crest cemetery with Vidalia Masonic Lodge in charge. He leaves a wife four children mother two brothers and four sisters. Rockett moved from Johnson county to Normantown seventeen years ago, farming then running Farmers Grocery Co. He was a devout Magnolia Springs Baptist member and his loss is felt by church and community.
