Preston Nutter Ranch Fire at Nine Mile Burns

A fire destroyed the Preston Nutter Ranch at Nine Mile Burns near Ning Mile Can yon, 50 miles from Price. The cause is undetermined. The 1902-established ranch housed a modern structure with knotty pine interiors and contained items from the Byron Cummings collection, artifacts, and correspondence from Eisenhower and Brig General Howard Price. Firefighters saved the corral and out-buildings including an old bunk house once used as a saloon by the Butch Cassidy gang as a stop between Robber's Roost and Brown's Park. Plans for rebuilding are underway.
