Lower Production Seen Soon From Rangely Oil Field
Hearings on two phases of Rangely field operation were held in Denver on August 21. The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission may order production cut from about 70,000 barrels daily as eight months of unitization efforts coincide with rising gas flaring and declining well pressure. A second hearing will review a proposed unit plan by the Rangely Operators' Committee with California Company to operate the field and share profits pro rata, pumping only the best wells.

State Press Enjoy Ride Over Road Built by Guard
More than sixty Utah State Press Association members rode a mountain road built by the Vernal National Guard unit on Saturday morning August 10. The trip from Park City to Brighton to Midway used army transport trucks and was sponsored by the Heber City unit. The route offered views of valleys and was praised for its challenging terrain amid stormy weather during construction. The gathering at Midway included a summer convention, hayrack ride, a ball game, a banquet at the Homestead, and remarks by E Lamar Buckner of Ogden, former national JCC president, with musical performances by Dorothy Luck, Dani Huber, and Rex Taylor. The Uintah Basin musicians drew hearty applause.
