Dam settlements reached for irrigation near Vernal Utah
After a week of talks among Wal Watde Power Board and Phillips Construction the two dams on White Rocks Lake and Cliff Lake in the Wasatch Mountains were agreed for irrigation use. The project, costing about 105000 dollars, will add 4000 acre feet of water to Ouray Park irrigation and support valley crops. Financing includes a 75000 dollar interest free loan from the US Department of Agriculture and the balance paid by the company. Construction aims for completion by October 1 with several cost items reduced from initial bids.

Indian Suit Aska $3714 Million for US Tanta Purchase
A Colorado mining official testified before the US Indian Claims Commission in Denver about land deals in the San Juan Basin. Dr. Vanderwilt cited a 1873 sale price of about 40.7 million dollars versus the government purchase price of 500,000 dollars to the Utes. Attorneys seek 37.5 million more for the land, arguing potential mineral wealth was known.
