Samaritan School of Nursing Opens at Samaritan Hospital
The Samaritan Hospital opened to the public on October 22, 1898 to meet the need for trained nurses for war veterans and returning servicemen. The three year program, directed by Miss Marline AL. Lander, prepares graduates to pass the state licensure exams and join professional registers. Classes begin each September with affiliations at Hudson Valley Community College and New York State programs at Colum NY Marey and RPI nearby.

Three area girls Judith Anderson Grace Beck and Jayna Sidman will be among 31 seniors graduating from Albany Academy for Girls on June 10 marking the institution’s 130th year. Address by Miss Terry Ferrey Education Editor for the New York Herald Tribune. School Sunday exercises June 7 at 4 pm Rev John C Laske will address the class. A formal dance is set for June 6 followed by a tea June 8 for seniors and guests. The class will be presented to the Alumnae Association at the annual luncheon June 11.

Romeo Studio Expands Staff of Music Teachers
Johan J. Romeo, director of Romeo's Musicland Conservatory, has taught accordion for 19 years and Life is the only area teacher certified by the American Accordion Association. The staff includes 14 teachers who are active performers and educators. Nine students have appeared on Ted Mack shows, with 14 straight years represented on Teen-Age Barn. Lessons cover all instruments for adults and beginners, with day and evening slots in large studios.

Union College Announces Summer School Schedule
Union College lists a six week summer program starting June 22 with over 40 courses. Dr John R Haines says bulletins outline courses and entrance requirements. Registration runs through June 19 at Andrew Carnegie Hall and by mail for credit toward Master or Arts degrees. Students from other colleges are welcome. Credits earned are subject to VA and college approval.
